The watch's name and silhouette are inspired by the golden ratio, the mathematical relationship that governs the case's ellipse, a design principle dating back to classical architecture that the manufacture turned into one of its most recognizable shaped watches, alongside the round Calatrava and the sporty Nautilus.
Reference 5738 introduced, within the collection, the execution with an integrated chain bracelet in the same metal as the case, replacing the leather strap that had characterized the Golden Ellipse for much of its history. That bracelet, as the manufacture itself describes it, pays tribute to 1970s aesthetics, the decade in which the Golden Ellipse established itself as one of the brand's iconic models.
