The Big Pilot's Watch descends directly from the B-Uhr (Beobachtungs-Uhr, "observation watch"), the onboard instrument IWC built in the 1930s and 1940s for military aerial navigators, with oversized cases designed for quick reading under adverse conditions. IWC revived that architecture as a large-format civilian wristwatch within its Pilot's Watch collection, and the IW329301 reference represents that line's current 43mm generation.
The oversized, screw-in crown is the Big Pilot's Watch's most recognizable signature: a direct inheritance from the original B-Uhr, designed to be operable even while wearing a pilot's thick flight gloves. Beneath the silver-plated dial, with its characteristic oversized luminescent Arabic numerals inherited from the military observation-watch design, sits Caliber 82100, an in-house IWC automatic movement delivering 60 hours of power reserve.
