The Cartier Tank Must WSTA0041 is the large model of the Tank Must collection relaunched in 2021: a rectangular steel case of 33.7 × 25.5 mm and just 6.6 mm thick, silver dial with Roman numerals, blued sword hands, and a high-autonomy quartz movement. Louis Cartier drew the Tank in 1917, inspired — according to house tradition — by the top-down view of Renault tanks on the Western Front: vertical brancards that integrate the lugs into the case itself, a language still intact a century later.
In 1977, Cartier launched Les Must de Cartier, a more accessible line in gold-plated silver (vermeil) that popularized the Tank among a much wider audience and became an eighties icon.
In 2021, the maison revived the name with the modern Tank Must collection: steel cases in several sizes, high-autonomy quartz or SolarBeat versions, and the full classic vocabulary — Roman numerals, railway minute track, blued sword hands, and a cabochon on the crown, here in synthetic spinel.
