The Royal Oak Offshore family was born in 1993 as a larger, more sport-oriented take on Gerald Genta's original 1972 Royal Oak, and within it the Diver variant debuted in 2006 as AP's entry into professional dive watches, adapting the Royal Oak's octagonal language to a more robust case and a graduated unidirectional bezel.
In 2021, Audemars Piguet fully overhauled the Offshore Diver line with the current generation, identified by the base reference 15720ST.
