The Sky-Dweller launched in 2012 as the most complex annual calendar in Rolex's modern catalog, mechanically solving a classic problem: displaying month and a second time zone without cluttering the dial. Reference 326934 arrived in 2017 and marked a milestone of its own — the first time Rolex offered the Sky-Dweller in Oystersteel, the brand's signature steel, paired with an 18k white gold Fluted bezel, a design choice that broke from the tradition of reserving the fluted bezel for solid precious-metal pieces. At its heart is caliber 9001, which integrates the Saros system: a Rolex patent allowing month and second time zone to be set by simply rotating the bidirectional bezel, without touching the crown except to set local time. The second time zone reads through an Off-Centre window at 12 o'clock, a layout that avoids stacking subdials on the main face. The annual calendar needs only one manual correction per year (except after February), unlike the perpetual calendars offered by other manufactures. The 326934 became the most accessible entry point into the Sky-Dweller complication by dropping solid gold from the case, and has been offered since launch with rhodium, blue, or black dials, on either an Oyster or Jubilee bracelet.
The 326934 pairs an Oystersteel case with an 18k white gold Fluted bezel, unlike references 326935, 326938, or 326939, which are solid yellow gold, Everose, or white gold throughout. It shares the same caliber 9001 and complications; the difference is material, and consequently list price and weight.
By rotating the bidirectional bezel with the crown in the correct position: the Saros system moves the Off-Centre window at 12 o'clock without touching the central hands, which continue tracking local time throughout the process.
