Panerai · Family: Submersible QuarantaQuattro
The Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro PAM01229 is a 44mm dive watch in AISI 316L steel, the reference with which Panerai introduced the intermediate 44mm size within the Submersible family in 2022, between the existing 42mm and 47mm sizes. It runs the automatic Caliber P.900 with 72 hours of power reserve. Cazador has no verified price observations yet for this reference. Its stand-out detail: it reaches 300m of water resistance, the same figure as the brand's larger Submersible models, without penalizing case diameter.

Panerai launched the Submersible family as an independent line in 2019, formally separating it from the Luminor it had emerged from as a dive-watch variant. Until 2022, the collection moved between two case sizes: 42mm for the more compact executions and 47mm for the ones with greater wrist presence, direct heirs of the historical proportions of the dive watches Panerai supplied to the Italian Navy in the mid-20th century.
In 2022 the brand introduced the QuarantaQuattro family (Italian for "forty-four"), which brought in the intermediate 44mm size as the foundation of a new Submersible generation, with a redesigned case and a focus on refreshed materials and finishing compared with earlier executions. Reference PAM01229 is the brushed AISI 316L steel version of that family, with a black dial, unidirectional rotating bezel and rubber strap.
Under the dial beats Caliber P.900, a manufacture automatic with 23 jewels delivering 72 hours of power reserve at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, with date and small-seconds functions. With 300 meters of water resistance, the PAM01229 matches the water resistance of the Submersible family's 47mm executions, unusual for a more compact case format.
This is the tenth Panerai reference Cazador adds, and the first from the Submersible QuarantaQuattro family, extending coverage alongside the Luminor Marina, Radiomir Black Seal, Luminor, Luminor Due, Radiomir Quaranta, Radiomir 1940 and Submersible lines already in the catalog.

It's Italian for "forty-four," referring to the 44mm case diameter Panerai introduced with this family in 2022 as an intermediate size between the existing 42mm and 47mm in the Submersible line.
In 2022, as a new generation within the Submersible line, which Panerai had formally split off from the Luminor in 2019.
Roughly 72 hours, with a manufacture automatic movement with 23 jewels running at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz).
It reaches 300 meters of water resistance, the same figure as the Submersible family's 47mm executions, despite its more compact 44mm case.
Brushed AISI 316L steel, a corrosion-resistant stainless steel grade typical of tool watchmaking.
A black rubber strap, a material resistant to salt water and abrasion, fitting for the Submersible family's dive-watch purpose.
