Flagship is one of Longines' oldest collections in continuous production: it launched in the late 1950s as the brand's flagship dress watch, and that "flagship" status of the catalog is exactly where its name comes from. The caravel that appears in Longines' logo since 1889/1893 (registered as a trademark in Switzerland) and on this reference's case back is one of the oldest brand emblems still in use across Swiss watchmaking.
Within that collection, the Flagship Heritage line revives the proportions and design codes of mid-20th-century Flagship watches: a smaller case (38.5mm, versus the 40mm of other contemporary Flagship executions), a clean three-hand dial or, as in this reference, one with a moonphase complication.
