Hublot introduced the Big Bang in 2005, a chronograph that fused materials uncommon in luxury watchmaking at the time — rubber, ceramic, various gold alloys — under the 'art of fusion' concept the brand turned into its identity marker. The model quickly became the manufacture's commercial pillar and spawned numerous size, material and complication variants over the following two decades.
In 2010 Hublot introduced Caliber HUB1280, the first integrated chronograph movement developed and manufactured entirely in-house, under the Unico name. Unlike the externally-sourced base calibers the brand had used until then, the Unico incorporates a column wheel visible from the dial side and a vertical clutch, features that together improve chronograph start/stop precision compared with traditional lateral clutches.
